Friends and food

I had a lovely Saturday. Firstly I met an old pal Sue for lunch in town. I used to work with her 7-8 years ago - my the years have flown; I couldn't actually believe it was that long. Anyway, since she left HSBC, we've kept in touch mainly via birthday cards, Christmas cards and the occasional phone call. We met up outside the Odeon and then decided to eat at the Slug and Lettuce. It was pretty packed and I've got to say I wasn't impressed with the service at all. We'd been siting there for 10-15 minutes before a waiter came over and even then he took orders from two tables in our vicinity before ours. I detest lack of attentiveness in restaurants. We both had penne pasta with a creamy pepper sauce but it really lacked any seasoning; I had to pile on the salt and pepper for it to taste of anything. After I'd ordered a cup of tea to finish, we sat chatting for ages about anything and everything and it was so nice to catch up. Sue is such a nutter; I think that's why we get on so well! :) Back to the service, no-one bothered coming over for about an hour after that to ask if we wanted anything else and we struggled to get the waiter's attention in order to receive the bill. I will not be recommending it.

In the evening John and I went round to Sunita's house, who is my old school friend. She is married to Praful and they have two girls Gauri and Khushi. Other good friend Suk and her hubby Leigh also went. As soon as we arrived we were faced with Sunita's brother who was wearing a Gooner shirt - shame about that and of course he didn't get any ribbing from me *cough* 5-1 *cough* lol. Leigh is a Chelscum fan and Praful of the Manure kind so of course there was a bit of banter. We don't hate each other really!

We were treated to traditional Indian food prepared by Sunita's mum who also lives with them. She had strict orders not to make it too hot (this time) and it was yummy! Ellie and Simon said they weren't coming at the last minute and there was so much left over, so everyone went home with doggy bags. Gawd, the fridge stunk when I opened it this morning!
